Demonstration of HVP-Valuemetrics
Axiological Psychology and
HVP-Valuemetrics are the foremost applications of Axiological
Science resulting from a transformation of Hartman's mathematical model of
value and moral phenomena unfolding in the pages of "The New Science
of Axiological Psychology" in which the results of tests and measures
are summarized validating Hartman's mathematical model.'
HVP-Valuemetrics (Axiometrics) is a value
profiling methodology derived from the principles and framework of
axiological science developed by philosopher R. S. Hartman and
systematically validated by psychologist and biologist Leon Pomeroy,
Ph.D.
HVP-Valuemetrics is a test consisting of
two lists of eighteen items each. This is a paper and pencil test
requiring about 15 minutes to complete.
Computer processing of the results identifies three basic cognitive
dimensions common to valuation, thinking and attitudes and measures their
sensitivity, balance, and order of influence having emotional,
motivational, and behavioral consequences.
The HVP exists in many forms and can be
adapted to many applications. It may also be interpreted at several
levels: 1. The first and most basic level is that of philosophical
interpretation available to the general public. 2. The second level of
interpretation lies in making the scores available to those who are
trained to interpret them. 3. The third level of interpretation is psychosocial in
nature and is limited to licensed professionals in the field of medicine
and psychology.
Training workshops and seminars are
available to those wishing to become knowledgeable in the administration,
scoring, interpretation, and application of
this assessment procedure.
Because human beings are
in fact "prisoners" of their values, tapping into cognitive
processing dedicated to valuation amounts to simultaneously assessing
values, attitudes and beliefs in a manner that provides rich and
meaningful hypotheses concerning personality organization and probable
behavioral patterns. The Hartman Value Profile: Pomeroy
Interpretation-Validation is a values (attitude and belief) clarification, values
(attitude and belief) appreciation,
and values (attitude and belief) assessment procedure of proven validity and
reliability set forth in the pages of Dr. Pomeroy's "The New
Science of Axiological Psychology." published by Rodopi Press,
2005.
Values, attitudes, and
beliefs are the "stuff" of emotions, motivations and behavior as
well as spiritual awakening. The assessment of these cognitive dimensions
is the "royal road" to the fulfillment of the Socratic
imperative of knowing one's human nature simply expressed as "know
thyself."
